Chapter 01
A slab of concrete isn't the same thing as a place to sit
Most Austin backyards already have a patio. What they don't have is a reason to use it past ten in the morning. By midday the sun is directly overhead and the slab is baking, and by afternoon it's raking in low and sideways from the west, which shade from a tree or an umbrella never quite blocks for long. Add in a hard Central Texas rain and an uncovered patio turns into standing water that keeps you off it for a day after the storm passes.
A cover changes the math on all of that. Instead of a patio you use for twenty minutes at breakfast, you get a room off the back of the house that stays usable through a Texas afternoon and keeps the rain off the table, the grill and the furniture underneath it.

Design and Installation of Patio Covers
Every cover starts the same way a deck does: posts set first, plumbed and anchored, then beams run across them and tied back into the existing structure of the house so the whole thing reads as one build instead of something bolted on afterward. The roof plane goes on last, pitched to actually shed water rather than pool it.
We build in natural wood, including Western Red Cedar, Ipe, Tiger Wood and Mosorunduba, chosen for how much sun and weather that particular corner of your yard takes. Every cover is handcrafted on site rather than dropped in as a prefab kit, which is what lets it tie cleanly into a roofline, a brick wall or a porch that a stock kit was never measured for. Where the City of Austin or your HOA requires a permit, we handle that paperwork for you, and every job carries our five year structural warranty and is backed by two million dollars in general liability insurance.

What changes once it's covered
A covered patio usually turns into the spot where the actual outdoor kitchen, bar or awning gets added next, and we build those in as part of the same job rather than a separate one down the line. Grill, counter space, a bar for watching the game outside, it's a natural add-on once the structure overhead is already there to shade it.
